The town

Pollina is in Palermo (province).

Pollina is the remaining location in Sicily for the production of manna. This sweet white substance is drawn from the sap of trees. It is believed to have medicinal properties. The museum has information about this and also offers samples.

Getting there

The only way in is by road. Take the windy SP25 road south from the coast. It takes about 1 hour from Cefalu. Parking is available free by the roadside just as you enter the village.

What to see, according to Wikivoyage

The main attraction is the amphitheatre and old castle at the top of town. There are some breathtaking views of the northern coast from the walkways around this area.

In the main village there is a small but good museum.
