The town
Luino (Western Lombard: Lüin) is a city on the shore of Lake Maggiore in Varese Province, in the Lombardy region of Italy.
Luino, with its 14,000 inhabitants, is well known for its weekly market, held on Wednesdays, which is purportedly the largest of its kind in Europe. It is also a popular destination for tourists, especially from Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands.
Significant local investment in the town across the first decade of the 21st century has led to the creation of a lovely lakefront walkway and park, the renovation of building fascias and piazzas.
